"Ready to Board" in St. Peter-Ording
Pirate Days Welcome Pirates of All Ages
When the weather and seas become rougher in the fall, the pirates land in St. Peter-Ording again and set up camp for four days around the historic island in St. Peter-Dorf. From October 2nd to 5th, their adventurous spectacles offer insights into bygone predatory and romantic times on the North Sea. After all, it wasn't only in the Caribbean that many ships were captured on the high seas, or even lured onto a sandbank with false beacons and robbed.
Four Days of Excitement at the Pirate Camp
From Thursday to Sunday, the Pirate Camp invites you to immerse yourself in the world of pirates. In the lovingly designed pirate camp of Aera Hard under Captain Black, children experience what a real pirate's life is like in the Pirate School. Life off the beaten track is presented in great detail throughout the entire event grounds.
Hunt ghosts, test your luck on the Wheel of Fortune and Mouse Roulette, or your skills at archery and egg-cracking, create sand art, or learn about old crafts. Young ship's boys and girls can even create their own work at the blacksmith's shop, making purses, or candle-making.
Old brooms sweep well, as the broom maker proves, demonstrating the usefulness of his craft, both then and now.
Further highlights include the walking acts that roam the grounds: Tamino the juggler entertains with charm and wit, defying the laws of physics with his juggling. The magician Robert Blake even brings a guillotine with him. There's also all kinds of live music to dance to.
Special Features at the Pirate Market
Along the "Zum Südstrand" street and in the parking lots at the town hall, the pirate camp leads into the pirate market with its colorful mix of food and drink, stalls, and craft shows by blacksmiths and purse makers.
For example, Wietses Pies offers pies, croquettes, frikandeln, and potato wedges; Garbräter offers skewers, bratwurst, and neck steak; and Salater offers braised vegetables and mushrooms. Drinks are also provided.
The stalls sell all the goods that have "fallen off the ship" during raids all over the world, such as knight and pirate toys, high-quality sculptures and light installations made from driftwood and firewood, animal skins, stuffed animals and fur products, mead, liqueurs, honey and spices, horn goods, gemstones, accessories, matching costumes, fine soaps, and jewelry.
After dark, things get especially romantic when candles, torches, and fire pits glow everywhere. The highlight on Friday and Saturday evenings is a fire show.
Immerse yourself in another world full of excitement and adventure.
